If you’ve read my recent GHA Titanium status match experience, this is my first stay after matching from Marriott Titanium to GHA Titanium.

To my pleasant surprise I got the 2 category - subject to availability - room upgrade that Titanium members are eligible to receive, likely due to my stay at the end of March 2026, which is the start of the low season for tourists on Langkawi. Below are the nett prices for 2 adults and 1 child staying for 4 nights.

Booking Room Type Avg. Daily Rate Total
Original Premier Ocean View King MYR 1345 MYR 5380
Upgraded Premier Ocean View Suite MYR 2580 MYR 10320

Based on the nett cost differences, the room upgrade alone was the biggest benefit at MYR 4940 (US$1225). Nett is base price + service charge + tax.

The Titanium benefit of complimentary breakfast buffet for 2 adults, 1 child (between 6 to 12) was the next great benefit at MYR 1100 (US$270) over 4 days. I also received MYR 50 daily F&B credit for booking directly at the hotel's site; not the GHA app. Overall I think I got MYR 5290 (US$1310) worth of benefits.

Benefit Calculation Total
Room Upgrade MYR 10320 - MYR 5380 MYR 4940
Complimentary breakfast MYR (2 x 110) + (55) x 4 nights MYR 1100
F&B credit MYR 50 daily MYR 200
Welcome amenity Various snacks MYR 50
Replenish in-room minibar on 3rd day MYR 50
Total - MYR 5290

I ended up paying my hotel bill with the D$75 that came with the Titanium status match, so net benefits after paying for the $150 status match came out to $1235!

Description Cost
Titanium status match -$150
Titanium benefits $1310 (MYR 5290)
D$75 for status matching $75
Net benefits $1235

Additional benefits that I didn't include above is the 25% off F&B, and the incremental 7% D$ earnings vs 4% as a regular GHA member.

Hotel Review

Location

It's a great central location. The hotel is situated by a beach and is located about 15-20 minutes south of Langkawi airport by car. I used Grab to get a car from the airport to the hotel and it cost roughly US$6.50. Within 1km walking distance of the hotel you'll find lots of drinking, dining, shopping and massage options. Yes, there's even a McD's, Starbucks and KFC within that 1km if you aren't in the mood for local food.

The hotel is about 30 minutes from other major attractions such as the Langkawi SkyCab and SkyBridge, and the Crocodile Adventureland Langkawi. It is about 55 minutes from Kilim Geoforest Park.

There is a closer Marriott and Hilton hotel option to both Langkawi SkyCab and SkyBridge, and Crocodile Adventureland Langkawi, but I'll discuss that in my upcoming Langkawi guide.

Room

At close to 170sqm (1700 sqft), the suite is amazingly huge. If you're a regular reader of this blog you'll know I hate blogs that are picture overload. In this case I will make an exception and post a few more pics just because the room is so big I don't know what to do in it! Throw a party?

Welcome amenities

Various locally-inspired food items.

If you're curious about the items in the 4 jars, here's the description from the card - where I corrected some typos - sitting on top of the jars:

  • Local Jeruk - Assorted seasonal fruits pickled in a sweet, tangy brine for a refreshing local delicacy.
  • Pandan Sable - A crisp, buttery shortbread infused with fragrant pandan leaves, offering a tropical twist to a classic French cookie.
  • Kuih Siput - Traditional spiral-shaped crunch snack, spiced with local herbs for a savoury bite.
  • Tempeh Chips - Thinly sliced fermented soybeans fried until crispy, a wholesome protein-rich snack.

Wi-Fi

I'll do a better job and quantifiably measure it the next time I stay at a hotel. I can tell you Netflix streaming was no problem at all.

Ports

You'd want to bring your USB-C fast charger as there's only USB-A in the room.

Food

There are 2 restaurants I tried there: Cassia and Lancava. As a GHA Titanium member I also go 25% off the restaurant bill.

Cassia: Breakfast buffet selection was great and the pastries were actually fluffy. Better than 80% of Marriott hotel breakfasts I've had. The restaurant was full of guests. There were also some solid protein dishes such as lamb and fish curry.

For lunch and dinner, it's a different story. Ghost town. For lunch, there's a MYR 50 executive lunch option with many choices, but the food wasn't great. The seafood in the seafood pasta seemed to have been frozen and not fresh. Dinner is a bit of disappointment; there were a lot of dishes that didn't taste like the real deal. Applied to all dishes/cuisines except for Malay.

Lancava: This is mostly an Italian restaurant with steak, seafood and pasta. Lunch and dinner were easily double the price of Cassia, but the dishes were much better executed and tastier. I found the pasta dishes to be a bit on the small side, but the fritto misto was large, as was the osso bucco. The prices seemed quite reasonable to me; certainly more so after you realize the prices are nett and there is the 25% Titanium member discount.

Service

Front desk: Friendly and helpful, but I think he went to the deep end of welcoming me and explaining the Titanium benefits by following a lengthy script and reading all the restaurant locations and times off the room key card sleeve. My biggest issue was actually him telling me Lancava was closed on Tuesdays based on the info on the room key card sleeve. Lancava is actually open daily. I informed the Lancava staff, and they thanked me for telling them the information was out of date, although I have to question the ridiculousness of it being out of date by 3 years (per Lancava staff).

Cassia: It's a hit or miss depending on the staff. There was one attentive staff that also knew how to engage kids. The rest seemed to be doing busywork and not really paying attention. There was an issue with my bill; I had clearly ordered the executive set lunch which comes with smaller portions and expected to pay the set lunch price. Instead, they gave me the a la carte portions and charged me full price. I talked to the staff at the restaurant about not getting the set lunch I requested and they kept insisting they gave me the 25% off being a Titanium member. Huge communications issue. Fortunately I spoke to the front desk, which then got the hotel manager involved and sorted out the issue for me so I ended up paying the set lunch price.

Lancava: Better trained, but not my much. Over lunch, I couldn't believe I have to ask for a plates for my family to eat my food on. During dinner, two of their staff interrupted the conversation going on at our table on separate occasions, and one was going to bring me my bill but never did.

Rest of hotel: Everyone looked at hotel guests and greeted them. Thumbs up.

Pool

Huge main pool. There are 2 areas shallow enough for kids, and a 3rd wet play area outside of the pool.

Noise

I went to the hotel because it was rated the top family-friendly hotel. I absolutely agreed it was family friendly based on the children's facilities, activities, pool and all that.

Then at night ... absolute disaster. The hotel won the prize for the least family friendly. Super loud karaoke from the Ocean View Lounge at the center of the hotel until 10pm at night. My child could not sleep until after the singing ended each night.

Conclusion

You must try out GHA at least once in your life if you can be matched to their Titanium tier. You can easily get over US$1000 in benefits from just one 4-night stay at an upscale resort such as Parkroyal Langkawi.

Whether you should you try GHA Titanium at Parkroyal Langkawi depends on whether you're traveling with kids that need to sleep before 10pm or not. For the price, I think it is one of the best on the island despite some of its flaws.

Breakfast was great and Lancava offers a good choice for lunch and dinner if you don't want to venture out of the resort. There are more than 20 main dishes at Cassia, so you won't find yourself repeating dishes even if you choose to stay there for a week or more.
