Cloudflare: slowing the internet since 2022 with Turnstile

Cloudflare loves to share how they speed up the internet and ended CAPTCHAs, but the reality is they slow down some sites by a much larger margin than they speed it up.

Ever see the page below where it checks your connection? Cloudflare can speed up a site loading by a few seconds, but what use is that when the check below can take more than 10 seconds to run?

There's a high likelihood of encountering the check above if you use a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution or simply connect from a country in Asia that Cloudflare does not seem to like.

In other scenarios, depending on the country/countries, you get outright blocked.
