Hi,
I'm requesting a status match for Best Western based on my existing Marriott hotel status of Titanium Elite member.
- Full name: <redacted>
- Full address: <redacted>
- Email address: <redacted>
- Phone number: <redacted>
- Best Western rewards member number: <redacted>
In just a little over 5 hours I received the following reply saying my status was matched to Diamond Select status as I expected.

As I said in my Best Western Rewards program post, it would be crazy to not spend a few minutes to sign up for Best Western Rewards and request a status match to get points that do not expire and (more likely) benefits such as early check-in/late check-out by being a top tier Best Western Rewards member. All it takes is just Marriott Gold status (25 elite nights), Hyatt Explorist (30 nights), and perhaps Hilton Gold. I say perhaps Hilton Gold because you can obtain Hilton Gold with 25 nights or 15 stays (15 nights).
If I were Best Western, I would give the customer the benefit of the doubt they are in fact a more valuable 25-night customer and match them to Diamond Select. The alternative is to think the Hilton customer perhaps only spent as little as 15 stays (15 nights) which would map to Best Western Diamond. I don't think there would be too many people getting Hilton Gold just to game the Best Western system and get Diamond Select. In any case, 20% more points with Diamond Select over Diamond is trivial.
Assuming a Best Western 3-star property is 20K points for a free night as I listed in my Best Western points valuation review, the spend amount is 20K/points earned:
- A Diamond member would need spend $1538* to get a free night.
*10 points per US dollar + 30% bonus = 13 points per dollar
- A Diamond Select member would need to spend $1333** to get a free night.
**10 points per US dollar + 50% bonus = 15 points per dollar
